This past August, Aiden Smithson, who is currently in 4eme, was awarded a Gold medal in the International Taekwondo Federation Unified World Championships in Brazil
Aiden was part of a 27 member team from A.C.E. Taekwon-Do South Africa that journeyed to Iguazu Falls in Brazil in August to represent South Africa in the World Champs.
The Championship comprised various disciplines like Sparring (Fighting), Patterns, Special techniques and Power Breaking (breaking of wooden boards with hand and feet).Aiden won the Gold Medal after beating opponents from Paraguay and the USA in gruelling sparring sessions of two, two minute rounds each.
He has been doing Taekwondo for 6 years and was awarded his Black Belt (1st Dan) in September last year.
A.C.E. Taekwon-Do South Africa is the National Governing Body with dojangs (clubs) in Gauteng & Kwa Zulu Natal and also does Taekwondo training at the school (LJV) as an extracurricular activity
