Educational Partnerships

For several years the French School Lycée Jules Verne of Johannesburg has been involved in educational partnerships with South African institutions, namely the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, Thulani and Winnie N’gwekazi schools in Soweto and Raiders Rugby Club in Bosmont.

The school is therefore a key player in educational partnerships between two countries and strives to give exposure of the French educational system abroad.

The objectives for the educational partnerships are:

  • Exposing the school to its host country.
  • Promoting the emergence of young talented South Africans from disadvantaged backgrounds in terms of education and sport.
  • Developing a citizenship approach on a local, national and international level, because beyond its effects of physical well-being, sport offers a school of life and teaches us skills essential for the social and professional spheres.

Crossed Sights in partnership with the Buhlebuzile Secondary School from Thokoza

Crossed Sights (“Regards Croisés”), is a project imagined around a sponsor, “Rubis mécénat” and Loraine Gobin, the Lycée jules Verne and the Buhlebuzile Secondary School from Thokoza. This South African school, located in a socially underprivileged area, has developed an “Art & Photography” section, approved by the South African Education Ministry. The goal of this section is to prepare future professional photographers.

The objective of “Crossed Sights” is that the Thokoza and Jules Verne students share their sights and insights through several outings and photo sessions in the Thokoza and Northern Johannesburg areas. The project’s final aim is to prepare an exhibit in town and publish a book.

During the outings, François Bleriot shot the following movies.
