Friday 13th a group of 4eme went to visit an exhibition entitled “Dark City” at the Circa Gallery in Rosebank. This visit concluded their English lesson on “What urban future?”. This exhibition attempted to show the living conditions in a derelict building in the center of Johannesburg, long after the initial owners had abandonned the building. The curators stimulated the visitors through their various senses and appealed to both the intellect and emotions. This visit was organised via the AFD, Mme Chastagnol, who had previously met the class to present an urban renovation project in which the AFD is taking part. The students were surprised but also stimulated by this visit which revealed a hitherto unknown side of Johannesburg.
