Thank you to all the parents and students from the Pretoria school who gave toiletries, stationery, toys and clothes to the Jacaranda Children’s Home. We were greeted with warm hugs and faces of gratitude.
The estate currently cares for 253 children, aged 4 to 18 years old.
Our students from CE1 to CM2 made a card for each child and they also decorated the large boxes used for the collections. The Cycle 3 classes linked this project to the EMC theme on Children’s Rights. All students learnt that every child has the right to feel loved and the right to safe accommodation, amongst others.
The Jacaranda Children’s Home is divided into a secured estate of many houses. The house that collected our donations was made up of 12 girls aged between 7 and 14. They will distribute all the donations accordingly.
A heartfelt thank you also to the parents and teachers who helped us pack and unpack the two large vans on a normally relaxed Saturday morning. We look forward to an annual tradition of giving!
